Winter 2011
October 1, 2011 - April 30, 2012.

NEWSLETTER
(for seasonal customers)

Hello everyone, it's time to start thinking about winter storage again! This year we are using the OMOA "Winter Storage Agreements". All existing customers should have received their copy by now, but if you need an Agreement mailed to you, give Debbie a call and she will be happy to send one to you. Boats will not be hauled, winterized or stored without a signed Agreement on file. If you would like to store your boat in shed D, book early as it fills up fast. If you are not going to use your boat in the fall, don't wait until the last minute to have us haul and winterize it. There may be a considerable line up! The winter storage period runs from October 1st through to April 30th. Please ensure that your vessel is insured and we have keys for any vessel being winterized here. We recommend as a precautionary measure putting moth balls in your boat to protect against inquisitive raccoons or mice.

Winter Work

If you are considering mechanical or re-power work this winter, discuss this with Ken so he can schedule you in. Debbie will also be available periodically thoughout the winter for any slip rental or accounting quesions you might have.

Security

Effective Friday November 4/11 the gates will be closed and locked during all non-operating hours. There will be no access to the boathouses or storage buildings after that date. The public washrooms will be taken out of service as well. It's always a good idea to remove any valuables you may keep in your boat during the winter as a precaution.

General Info

Marine Lease Agreements will be mailed to existing customers the end of February 2012, please let Debbie know if you have any requests for slip changes. If your thinking of doing any cleaning/work to your boat in the spring, it must be done prior to April 16th/12 so you are ready to be launched. If your boat is not ready to be launched, you will incur additional charges for moving your boat and/or land storage fees. All boats are to be launched by May 19, 2012. If you are requesting an early launch, we must be notified well in advance. Your boat will be stored outside in an area where you are not blocked in.

Ken would like to thank everyone for their patronage this year. We hope to see all of you again next Spring and for many seasons to come!

Have a great winter!
Ken Johnston & the staff of Rideau Marina
